Baby Cambridge

I believe that I come by my obsession with the royal family naturally. My mother was obsessed. And I happen to be almost exactly two months younger than Prince William. Therefore, she spent most of her pregnancy following Diana’s.

I still remember the night Diana died. Mother woke me up very early to tell me she was gone. Having fallen back to sleep, I thought I had dreamed it all. What an odd thing to dream about! But it was true.

Back to the present (ish). I woke up early in order to watch Will and Kate’s wedding, taking the day after off so I could sleep. And now I’ve developed a twitchy habit of checking the news every five minutes to see if Kate’s arrived at the hospital yet, or, if I’ve waited longer, if she’s actually had her baby. Thanks Mom. And Baby Cambridge, hurry up!

Marjorie’s Raspberry Muesli

In our family, we do a waffle night every Friday night. This is something that began with my grandparents and has continued with their children – wherever they live. At my parents’ house, we play with all types of toppings from basic syrup and other traditional foods like applesauce, to pesto and feta, to cheddar. Sweet to savory. But nothing beats the original when we’re all together at Christmas. Here’s a favorite waffle topping of mine. It’s equally fantastic just out of a bowl.

Muesli

Beat together 1 pkg. Frozen Raspberries and 1 pint Whipping Cream until thick.

Gently beat in:
1 cup Plain Yogurt
1 cup Milk
1/4 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Oatmeal (blended into a flour)
1/2 cup Walnuts

Allow the muesli to thicken in the refrigerator for one hour.

Sixth of July

Our anniversary. What a busy day! We started out with brunch, and then went to the Butterfly Pavilion.

Have you ever been there? I love watching bees work.

They also have a couple of small aquariums. Neither of us was willing to hold the tarantula, but petting starfish was another matter…

Then, to the butterflies:

These cocoons come from Kenya. I’ve never seen shiny ones like these before.

Back to Boulder. The Dushanbe Tea House was easily the meal that we were both equally the most impressed with. And the decor is elaborate!

Fifth of July

What a day! We started out by eating brunch at a place called Walnut Cafe. Wow! Their veggie sausage was amazing! I had it in an omelet.

Then on to the Celestial Seasonings factory where we drank entirely too much tea, went on their free tour, and bought a couple of mugs.

Time for Pearl Street Mall. We spent a bit of time in a co-op for Colorado artists where George fell in love with little creatures like these.

After some dinner, we ended the day watching “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare” at CU. Very well done. We both enjoyed it!

Fourth of July

Wonderful day today. The fireworks were nice (although not enough whistlers). And overall, a fabulous day to our fifth anniversary weekend.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is a huge day for us. Please keep us in your prayers! (The next one will be next week.)
